Emilie Palmelund is a Berlin based artist currently studying at the Swedish Royal Institute of Art. She works with sculpture, drawing and installations. With their eerie, anthropomorphic appearances, her sculptures are influenced by pop-culture and sci-fi. Something like a weird coalescence of Taiyo Matsumoto, Mark Fisher hauntology, Ursula K Le Guin world building and Wong Kar Wai's intimate story telling. The sculptures trace recognisable human forms that morph into more creature like shapes with fractal patterns.
While living in Stockholm, Emilie has been a part of organising a yearly group show taking place on a frozen lake:
Uttran. She recently showed her piece Laughing Sleeper at newly opened and acclaimed exhibition space Accelerator in Stockholm.
